New South Wales

Distinction Certificates: Practical Examinations

A distinction certificate will be awarded to each candidate achieving A+ in all practical subjects. This will be released at the end of the year.

AMEB Shields

There are seven awarded annually in recognition of excellence in teaching.

1. Schools Category

A perpetual shield is awarded and can be retained by the winning school for the succeeding year. In addition, an individual shield will be awarded for retention by the school.

2. Private Teachers Category

Shields are awarded to teachers who present candidates in Piano, Instrumental/Vocal, and Written examinations. Details appear in the AMEB (NSW) website.

Queensland

Certificate of Distinction

A Certificate of Distinction will be awarded to each candidate in

(a) Practice of Music examinations achieving an A+ result in Third Garde and above;

(b) Written examinations, obtaining the following marks or above in the grades listed: Third:96; Fourth and Fifth:92; Sixth, Seventh and Eighth:90.

(c) Diploma examinations, achieving a Distinction result.

With the exception of Diploma examinations, Certificates of Distinction will be released together with the Examination Report.

  • Practice of Music 7th Grade Scholarship $600
  • Prizes for Theory and Practice of Music and Speech and Drama $2000

Western Australia

The AMEB Awards in Western Australia

The AMEB Performance Awards are made under an annual awards scheme designed to encourage students to continue their studies in Music and Speech.

A number of special prizes are awarded annually. Contact State Office for details.

Tasmania

AMEB Award in Seventh Grade Pianoforte $100

This Award is sponsored by the Tasmanian Music Teachers’ Association and is awarded to the candidate who achieves the best result in Seventh Grade Pianoforte.

Jennifer Filby Memorial Award in AMEB Fifth Grade Theory or Musicianship $100

This Award is sponsored by the Tasmanian Music Teachers’ Association and is awarded to the candidate who achieves the best result in AMEB Fifth Grade Theory or Musicianship.

Hobart Guitar Society Award in AMEB Classical Guitar $75

This Award is sponsored by the Hobart Guitar Society and is awarded to the candidate who presents the best examination performance in Classical Guitar.

Australian String Association (AUSTA) Trophy

This Award is for the most outstanding candidate in Fifth Grade Violin.
